Orthodox Cross symbol (Byzantine Cross, Russian Cross) is a three-bar cross with the lower bar a bit slanted. The side of a lower bar which corresponds with Christ’s right foot is elevated.
The symbol is a variation of a Christian cross first appeared in the 6th century. It was created in times of the Byzantine Empire and used in church services and religious items and also placed on the domes. Now it can be seen on the tops of domes of Orthodox churches.
