Gonzo symbol is a logo of the journalism style, that is characterized by the freedom of speech, thinking without boundaries, and the journalist’s personal perspective on things that happen around them. This makes the reporter a direct participant in the events, rather than a passive observer. Gonzo journalists often work under the effect of psychotropic substances. As a result, fantasy and reality blend so seamlessly, it’s almost impossible to distinguish truth from lies. The journalists use strong language and don’t care about the choice of words too much. Because of this, their reports are harsh and riddled with exaggerations and sarcasm. The Gonzo necklace appears as a six finger fist with a clenched peyote in it (the cactus blossom, that is used to produce mescaline). At the bottom, the fist turns into a sword, which represents the power and strength of journalism. The symbol was created by Hunter Thompson, the founder of Gonzo-journalism.
