Auseklis symbol looks like a cross and eight rhombs. It’s the personification of the morning star in Latvian legends and mythology and a sign of Venus. Auseklis as a mythological character is found in hundreds of Latvian folk songs. In the Middle Ages, the symbol was widespread in Western European and Gothic arts and crafts. A few mythological and cosmological concepts in Latvian folklore are connected with it. Morning and Evening Stars as members of the heaven family that appear on sacred objects.
